Cindy spent years in the mortgage banking and real estate business before she found her love for serving patients in dentistry. Because of years of clenching, the surface of her teeth were ground down. Cindy desperately wanted to restore the smile of her youth and, as she explains it, started “saving my pennies”. “I wanted pretty teeth that were shaped more naturally and not notched out.

She heard about Dr. Gallegos and his stellar reputation and what impressed her most was his commitment to continual learning. She saw the beautiful cosmetic work and the often life-changing smile makeovers he performed. She heard the stories of how they changed people’s lives and when she had the opportunity, she came to work with him as Patient Care Coordinator.

Shortly thereafter, she was able to experience her own life-changing makeover. “It was an all-day procedure. I was the only patient Dr. Gallegos saw that day and all of his attention was on me. He was very gentle, he took his time. And Kathy, his assistant was very comforting and attentive. I was sitting there, listening to my music, and had tears of joy streaming down, realizing that this dream that I had was in the process of coming alive.

As the Patient Care Coordinator, Cindy loves what she does, “I’m here for our patients, to better understand what they want, help them decide their best treatment options, to explain things they may not understand. I am their advocate and I help facilitate whatever they need to get what they want.

I believe in the quality, the honesty and the integrity of what we do here. The quality of what our patients are getting and the care and honesty with which it’s delivered is priceless. I like that I work with a doctor who has the highest amount of integrity.

When she isn’t helping patients, she likes spending time with her husband, grandchildren, and dogs and dreams of traveling. She has a long list of places she would like to visit and hopes to eventually get to see all of them.

Kim comes from a military family who is originally from this area. Dentistry is in her blood. But even though her Mom was a dental assistant and her Aunt was a hygienist, Kim had no plans of going into the profession. All that changed while she was in college studying marine biology and Russian and needed a part time job. A friend suggested she work for his mother, a dentist, who was in need of a dental assistant and she took to it right away. She continued her education but obtained her degree in hygiene instead.

Coming full circle, she and her husband moved back to the area looking for new opportunities and she fit right into the Middleburg Smiles team.

Kim will talk to just about anyone and enjoys getting to know people. “I love building relationships with my patients and I always want to do the very best for them.” It is especially rewarding for her when the light goes on for patients and they make the connection about how they can take charge of their own dental health.

Kim also enjoys the outdoors and has horses and dogs, likes to garden, and fish. She’s a movie buff, and loves reading and cross-stitching when she has the time.

Amber grew up in Virginia Beach and moved to the area in 2003 with her husband. She fell in love with dentistry when she started working with an orthodontist and found her way to Middleburg Smiles in early 2014. Immediately, she knew it was a perfect fit.

She has a special appreciation for Dr. Gallego’s commitment to detail and getting it right the first time. “Even when people leave with their temporaries, he makes sure they look natural and are perfectly matched with the other teeth. That’s rare.

She loves coming to work because she is learning something new every day and the patients are a joy. “I love the patients and love talking to them - everybody has a story”, she said.

When she isn’t helping patients, she volunteers at her son’s kindergarten literacy program. Her son and daughter keep her busy. They love to travel and camp as a family and return to visit Virginia Beach every chance they get.
